An Experiment

Hi Everyone.

Big shout out to Ms Sula for her suggestion, which worked. Laptop is now up and running, which is tres fantastique. However, i now find myself with writer's block. Can't seem to put anything down in any logical sequence, i'm afraid. And so i've come up with a genius idea - why don't you, my avid readers, ask me questions about the trip. Anything. Whatever you want to know. And i promise to answer your questions to the best of my ability. This (hopefully) will get my mind working and and spark off the creative process which will facilitate a proper post...or at least that's the plan.

Okay. So click here for the itinerary, which gives an idea of what we got up to.

Here's a list of some of the characters we met. My friend, Tripping Buddy (TB) and i share the same sense of humour, so by the end of the week, we had christened practically every other person on the boat!

1 - The 2 Stooges
2 - Liver man aka Cleaver man
3 - Baba groper 1
4 - Baba groper 2
5 - Grinding granny
6 - Dancing waiter (self explanatory)
7 - Anti-social Grandpa (also self explanatory)
I'll add to the list as i remember...

So, let the experiment begin. If this doesn't work, i shall have to do a rethink. But let us wait and see, eh?

Cheers, lovely people...

I wanted to choose Abu Simbel because of my love for Ramesses II but 1st I choose the Temple Karnak…so please tell me about:

Your journey there…how you got there… what you saw on route … what the likes of 2 Stooges, Cleaver man, Baba groper 1 & 2 (oya confess which one groped you!!!) and grinding granny (please who did she grind with…I like the idea that at that age me self I go still fit dey grind) were up too.

Obvious signs of religious activities @ the temple (what these were?)

What did you see when you went to the Precinct of Amun-Re (if you went) e.g. obelisk, sphinx, scenes inscribed on pylons (can I have pics please?!)…

Gist from the locals that was out with the standard tour guide stuff about this place…that made you think wow! or na lie!

Anything that will disprove what I saw in the films ‘the mummy’ and its sequel or the film ‘the 10 commandments Moses’ (with Charles Heston)

Any of the above with your usual witty complimentary will do me just fine

@Aloofar - Something on your mind, hun?

@shubby doo - Are you sure you were not Nefetari in a previous life!
The journey to Abu Simbel makes for a more exciting read than Karnak. However, i'll do both beginning with Karnak cos you asked so nicely...I'll also touch on the rest of your list

@carlang - why am i not surprised - baba groper indeed...:). Ok sha. Request duly noted

One question:

Did your pulse quicken? If so what/who caused it?

UndaCovaSista said...

@30+ - unfortunately the food was mainly western, occasionally with an egyptian twist (and by that i mean seasoning). Nothing to report on there...Sorry!

@Shubby - Lol! You can actually study for a degree in Egyptology you know? Our tour guides were qualified Egyptologists...

@florida - Ok...stay tuned. I hope i havent built it up too much. You may be disappointed i.e. probably not that exciting...

@Naapali - Which one is pulse quickening now, ehn? I said ask me a question about the trip...
Having said that, i suppose you could say the Colossi of Memnon did. They were our first stop and are as impressive as they look in the pictures.

Oh, and also the glorious sunsets over the horizon each evening (you've started me off now...)!

Lovely!!! I'm glad it worked!

And I am digging this experiment. :)

Ok first) Was it as breathtaking as it appears on the Discovery Channel? Or were you underwhelmed a bit?

Second) Anything crazy/scary (or even funny) happened on the boat, you know kinda like Murder on the Nile style, what with Baba gropers and antisocial grandpas... Lol!

third) Your favorite part of the whole trip?

I will pop the corn and wait for the answers!

Ttyl!

Questions from ur itinery:

* How did you feel when you were inside the Valley of kings? Did you have a sense of royalty?

* What was the Egyptian "treasure hunt" about? (the entertainment they gave you guys on day 5?)

Atutupoyoyo said...

Is there really a Dixies Chicken about a stone's throw from the pyramids?

Did you feel as adventurous and carefree as you did in Marakech?

Will Cristiano Ronaldo stay at Manchester United?

Will Dr Burke ever be adequately replaced on Greys?

Thank you. That is all for now.

You missed the crucial question

WAS THERE ANY EYE CANDY (MALE) who prolly quickened your pulse like Dr Naaps said.

UndaCovaSista said...

@ms sula - yep, it did. Thanks again. i wouldnt say i was underwhelmed, but after day after day of relentless temple viewing, it began to get a bit much. Some were more impressive than others tho' e.g. Karnak

No murder took place, tho' after a while i was contemplating murdering some people!

@Bumight - look out for a post on the Valley of the Kings. I'll talk about King Tut's tomb then. As for Hatshepsut, that's one sister that knew how to kick butt! I have nothing but respect

@naijalines - grinding granny gave me one of the biggest laughs of my life! Stay tuned for the gist

@Jaycee - Will blog on the Valley of the Kings. It was quite impressive. I'll also spill on the Treasure Hunt. Stay tuned.

@Atutu - It's a mc Donalds, i heard! Whichever way, its sad. Having said that, what right do we have to demand that the Egyptians remain frozen in time ? (sorry that's not directed at you, just my thoughts cos there was lots of grumbling in our ranks about things like that). The cruise takes in the south of egypt btw Luxor and Aswan. we didnt go up north to Cairo so didnt get to see the pyramids

Very astute question to ask - no didnt feel as adventurous this time around cos everything was highly regimented. i soon began to feel a bit resentful actually. It wasnt till the last day that we actually had free time. Trust me, i took to the streets to mix it up with da locals :)

Dr Burke is irreplacable. Isaiah washington on the other hand is a Pillock.

Don't know owt about football, i'm afraid

@30+ - The only things quickening my pulse were the wonders of ancient egypt and the beauty of God's creation...unfortunately. I did get toasted an awful lot tho'

Naapali said...

see how she casually slips in the 'I did get toasted a lot though"

Men, I have said it before you are the real Undacovasista. Grace Jones ain't got nothing on you. Obtuse enigmatic riddle that you are.

UndaCovaSista said...

@naapali - haba! obtuse ke?

Naapali said...

obtuse gaani!
we say tell us about pulse quickening; silence
they say tell us about boys; silence

then she slips in "unfortunately I did get toasted an awful lot tho'"

which kin toasting be dat one: with butter and marmalade type?

UndaCovaSista said...

@naapali - :( I'm not talking to you
