Pieces of Me

If you are patient and tender
I will open drawers that mostly stay closed
and bring out places and people and things, sounds and smells, love and frustrations, hopes and sadness.
Bits and pieces of life that have been grabbed off in chunks and found lying in my hands
they have eaten their way into my heart altogether
you or I will never see them.

-They are me-

If you regard them lightly, deny that they are important, or worse judge them
I will quietly slowly begin to wrap them up in small pieces of velvet
like worn silver and gold jewelry
tuck them away in a small wooden chest of drawers
and close them away.

This is a partial repost which initially appeared here, but just so happens to reflect my mood today...

this is me... i shield the gems within me within a stone castle, surrounded by a moat and protected by tall impregnable walls...

only those deemed worthy may come in…

and if they betray me or fail to TRY and understand what they see within, they are escorted out and waved away with a teary goodbye

Forth !!!

interesting poem
wonder what mood it reflects
whether its someone wanting to open up or its someone wanting to clam up coz their trust has been betrayed.

Interesting, especially as it reflects your mood lately. Does that suggest your are pensive, tentative and expectant (not expecting o!) all at the same time?

There's always something deep in our innermost & interior places...

Hmmm...

Most times we are ready to open up to someone who is truly worth it...

Happy Independence day.

I had that conversation with my sister the other night.

A diamond is beautiful but can be cold and cutting. If the only thing you see is the piece of adornement and neglect to understand the powerful journey it takes to get there, then you might just miss the most beautiful thing about the diamond.

The exterior might look harsh but if you are brave enough to want to see more, you'll be awarded the privilege.

I totally see where you're coming from.
