- I'm a Thirty-something Nigerian female living in the UK. I'm a bit of a thinker, but as i grow older, i'm learning to shut out the multitude of voices out there and be true to my own voice. It really is true that the older you become, the more comfortable you get in your own skin. I've been accused of being very 'English'(whatever that means). But you know what? I am just me, and i'm learning to love and accept me for who i am, making no apologies to anyone.

Umm yeah...I couldn't finish listening to it. One thing I've learnt: The fact that you love a song doesn't mean that the song loves you, or your throat.
@UCS - i hoped 2 but deep down i had that sinking feeling... but the woman just floored me with her badness...poor lass couldn't hold the tune...not sure she even hit one correct note...me i no go lie, i laughed hard...i felt for her sha but i'm sorry if you put yourself up for these things it is to be expected...
Adebola wasn't as bad as Ashik (who sang the take that song)...i really wanted his music to 'heal the world' but mehnnn the guy finished me...i was in stitches
I wonder if either of them will be back for the final show 2 sing again...i hope so

So I joined the debate and this is what I said:
Interesting debate and thanks for sharing the contents of the Beeb's broadcast.
I applaud all the women over thirty who are working and living their lives on their own terms rather than walk the path laid out for them by others. My sister did not get married until her early thirties and know that my parents (forward thinking as they might be relative to their peers) celebrated that with greater fanfare than her being called to the bar.
Truth though is men also face similar though more subtle pressures, albeit probably delayed for longer. My friend, successful doctor in his early forties, never married, faces intense pressure from his parents and friends about his single status. To the extent he had nearly consented to unions that would have been disastrous for him.
As society and lifestyles change, the institutions that supported previous generations will face pressure and many will have to change or be subject to irrelevance, paid attention to only for public purposes but privately lacking in meaning.

Lol.Watched it on saturday and boy was i rolling on the floor, i could tell that she couldn't sing with all that i am better than Whitney Houston but am sure if we dig properly we will find that it's her bobo and her family that told the girl she can sing. I defintely said a prayer for her on saturday night and it was that God should give her courage to come out of her house because the shame too much, Whitney Houston ko, breaking glass ni, even her voice could not break bottles...
